This is kinda cool - Al Gore mentioned the EIS website on his blog today.

03/20/2009:

For the last several months I have been working  on a very exciting  project, and over the next couple of days much of the work I have done for the project is "going live" and I thought it worth adding some material here to let everyone know about it; partly because I have been involved in the project, but also because I think the site, TV show, and Google Earth layer are all going to be worth looking at and cover an important topic.

I have been working with the Extreme Ice Survey team which is led by James Balog, a nature and "adventure" photographer to help them document a photography project that they have been undertaking over the last 2 and half years. James and his team have placed time lapse cameras on 15 glaciers on 3 continents around the world and have been documenting these glaciers as the have rapidly receded. The website http://www.extremeicesurvey.org is formally launching on Monday (though much of it is live now) along with a new global awareness layer that will be hosted in Google Earth. On Tuesday night the project will be highlighted on a the Nova special Extreme Ice - The air time on this Nova special varies by region but you can look up the broadcast time here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/

I hope everyone gets a chance to take a look at some of the documentation on this project it's a really interesting and vitally important subject. The Google Earth Layer is available here

If you have a Google Earth project you would like to talk to me about, contact me at btugwell@fusestudios.com.
